Editorial of The Inaugural Issue

Hany Ammar, Mazin Yousif

On behalf of the International Steering Committee of the Arab Computer Society (ACS), it is with great pleasure to announce to ACS members the establishment of this bi-annual on-line magazine ( The initiative to establish an on-line magazine dedicated to ACS members germinated during a meeting of the ACS at its 2007 conference, the ACS/IEEE International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications (AICCSA’07) held in Amman, Jordan. After long deliberations, the same committee approved the mission and launch of the journal during its meeting during the AICCSA’08 conference in Doha, Qatar. Dr. Hany Ammar and Dr. Mazin Yousif volunteered to lead all related publications matters, as Editor-In-Chief and Associate Editor-In-Chief, respectively. The complete list of the editorial board is presented below.

The magazine aims to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, research findings and opinions among researchers, educators, developers and technical managers in the computing field. It will publish research and technology articles, surveys, book reviews, education practices, as well as industry trends and practices. Articles will be published in English or Arabic. More generally, the magazine envisions establishing a tradition of scientific discourse in Arabic. At the same time it endeavors to serve its Arabic speaking readership by keeping them abreast of recent developments in the field of computing and communication and serving to nurture an Arabic speaking knowledge society.

Articles published in the journal will go under peer review by the editorial board as well as external reviewers. It would be appropriate to express gratitude to the reviewers and volunteers and thank them in advance for their help and support to make this magazine a success. Specifically, we would like to thank the editorial board and Professor Tim Menzies of West Virginia University for their help in reviewing articles published in this inaugural issue. We would also urge the readers to provide us feedback and suggestions through the journal website on how to enhance our quality and delivery as we all strive to make this journal a major success.
